“Primitive War” Unleashes Dinosaur Chaos on Hulu, Offering a Bold Alternative to “Jurassic World”

Streaming is now the home for the most outlandish dinosaur movie of 2025, “Primitive War,” offering viewers a thrilling and unconventional prehistoric adventure. Director Luke Sparke’s film, initially rejected by Hollywood studios, has found a dedicated audience and is now available to a wider viewership via Hulu.

From Indie Sensation to Streaming Success

“Primitive War” follows a search and rescue team dispatched to a remote jungle valley during the Vietnam War in 1968. Their mission: locate a missing Green Beret platoon. What they discover, however, is far more terrifying – a world overrun by dinosaurs. Starring Tricia Helfer (“Battlestar Galactica”), Jeremy Piven (“Entourage”), and Ryan Kwanten (“True Blood”), the film delivers a chaotic and action-packed experience.

The film was first released on Video on Demand (VOD) in October of last year, followed by a physical media release on 4K, Blu-ray, and DVD. However, its debut on a major streaming platform like Hulu marks a significant expansion of its reach.

A Bold Vision Realized on a Shoestring Budget

One observer previously hailed Sparke’s adaptation as “the greatest non-‘Jurassic Park’ dinosaur movie ever made,” a statement reflecting the film’s unique approach to the genre. While the “Jurassic World” franchise has largely dominated the dinosaur movie landscape, “Primitive War” offers a distinctly different flavor of cinematic entertainment.

Notably, Sparke achieved this vision with a remarkably low budget – less than $10 million – compared to the $180 million price tag of 2025’s “Jurassic World Rebirth.” Despite the budgetary constraints, the film reportedly boasts over two hours of dinosaur-filled action and audacious set pieces.

“It’s not the motion picture of choice for those looking for Oscar-worthy acting, but for those seeking the kind of truly absurd dino flick that ‘Jurassic World’ could never be? This is worth checking out,” one source noted. The film is described as violent, over-the-top, and a wild ride for fans of the genre.

A Sequel is Already in the Works

Sparke is already planning a follow-up, with “Primitive War 2” currently slated for a 2027 release. Production is expected to begin soon in Australia, the director’s home country. Viewers now have the opportunity to experience the original “Primitive War” before the sequel arrives. The film is also available for purchase on 4K, Blu-ray, or DVD from Amazon.
