The tour commenced with the inauguration of the rehabilitated Tilène market, modernized by PROMOGEM. The revitalized market now features modern amenities including canteens, butcher shops, a restaurant, and updated equipment. “This market symbolizes the revival of local commerce and the government’s commitment to the populations,” a senior official stated. The renovation underscores a focus on strengthening economic activity at the grassroots level.
Agropole Sud Expansion to Drive Agro-Industrial Development
A key component of the government’s strategy centers on the Agropole Sud site in Baghagha (Adeane), envisioned as a major agro-industrial hub. Plans are underway to expand the site’s surface area to 100 hectares, with the goal of increasing both agricultural production and local employment opportunities. According to reports, discussions were held with stakeholders in the cashew sector, with the Agropole Sud poised to support this vital industry through job creation and enhanced local processing capabilities.
Sonacos Factory Relaunch: A Pillar of Regional Industry
The delegation also evaluated the relaunch of the Sonacos factory in Ziguinchor, a facility considered crucial to the region’s industrial and commercial landscape. The revitalization of Sonacos is intended to re-establish it as a cornerstone of economic activity in the area.
