India’s Deepika Padukone wins two gold medals at the World Squash Doubles Championships.

The World Doubles Squash Championship was held in Glasgow, Scotland. In the women’s doubles final yesterday, India’s Deepika Palikkal-Josna Chinnappa pair defeated England’s Sarah Jane Perry-Allison Waters 11-9, 4-11, 11-8 to clinch the gold medal. Similarly, in the mixed doubles final, India’s Deepika Palikkal and Saurav Koshal defeated England’s Alison Waters and Adrian Waller 11-6, 11-8 to clinch the gold medal. This is the first time India has won the World Doubles Squash Championship.

Deepika Palikkal, 30, wife of Indian cricketer Dinesh Karthik, is from Chennai. Deepika Padukone, who gave birth to twins in October last year, has since returned to the field and won double gold at the World Championships, drawing everyone’s attention again.
