DIRECT. Pension reform law: Faure promises “democratic harassment to roll back the president”

The Elders of the Constitutional Council opened “a dangerous path” with yesterday’s decision which will “set case law”, fears Olivier Faure for whom, legally, the Council had every reason to invalidate the law. “The Social Security finance bill must be used when finances are impacted during the year, that will not be the case with this reform”, he pleads. “Imagine with even more authoritative power! “, he warns. “We have in France the president who has the most powers, he can do everything on his own. (…) People have the impression that the only valid election is the presidential election. Democracy, in reality, is everyday life. We do not give carte blanche to anyone for five years to do what they want”.
