BOLZANO. The provincial councilor for Mobility and Infrastructure, Daniel Alfreiderand the Councilor for Transport and Sustainable Mobility of the Lombardy Region, Franco Lucentehave signed, in Milan, a declaration of intent for the creation of a collaboration strategic in the sector sustainable mobilityaimed in particular at the creation of a direct rail connection between Bolzano and Milan.

The president of the Lombardy Region also witnessed the signing, Attilio Fontana. “Together with Lombardy we aim to create a direct, efficient, stable, ecological and sustainable regional railway connection between Bolzano and Milan”, commented councilor Alfreider. “In addition, we will promote collaborations between the respective technical departments to ensure one exchange of information and best practices and improve the quality of public mobility in both territories, for the benefit of citizens. We will do this by seizing the great opportunity offered, also in this sense, by the Winter Olympic Games Milan-Cortina 2026which will also see the Alto Adige Arena in Anterselva as the venue for the biathlon”, added the vice-president of the Province.

“Our goal is strengthen rail connections between Lombardy and Alto Adige, also in anticipation of the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games – said the Lombard regional councilor for Transport and Sustainable Mobility Lucente. Offering an efficient, punctual and direct service between the two territories will significantly improve the connection and quality of the offer offered to travellers. A collaboration that will certainly bring benefits also in terms of sustainable and gentle mobility, identifying common paths and projects for promote intermodality and the development of initiatives for the management of infrastructure works on the railway network and the implementation of policies for the development and integration of regional and local public transport”.
