A “ray of hope” around the negotiations on Ukrainian cereals
Negotiations in Istanbul between Ukraine and Russia on the release of grain blocked on Ukrainian soil is a “glimmer of hope”, says UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres.
The UN chief, speaking of “truly substantial progress”, hoped that a “formal agreement” could be reached soon. “We are not there yet”, he adds, referring to the need to carry out further “technical work”. His statements came after a meeting was held in Istanbul between delegations from Ukraine, Russia, Turkey and the UN.
