The implementation of this royal program has allowed these widows to benefit from direct social assistance set at a minimum of 500 dirhams, declared Mr. Baitas during a press briefing following the Government Council, explaining that this compensation increases gradually each year in order to reach 400 dirhams for each child by 2026.

He stressed that the government has unified the procedure for accessing direct social assistance within the framework of the unified social registry, in order to allow widows without custody to benefit from it, unlike the previous system.

This aid varies between a minimum of 500 dirhams and 1,158 dirhams, against a sum which fluctuated between 350 dirhams and 1,050 dirhams for families with 3 children educated in the old system, he specified.

Mr. Baitas also noted that this aid will gradually increase each year, to reach 1,233 dirhams according to the number of children by 2025, with a view to reaching 1,308 dirhams in 2026.

Likewise, the minister detailed that 260 thousand widows in rural areas and 171 thousand in urban areas benefited from direct social assistance, adding that the number of beneficiaries without children is 346 thousand widows, including 124 thousand in urban areas and 222 thousand in rural areas. Beneficiary women with only one child amount to 20 thousand in urban areas and 17 thousand in rural areas, he said.

“The number of beneficiary widows with two children is 16,000 in urban areas and 14,000 in rural areas, while those with three or more children are 11,000 in urban areas and 7,000 in rural areas,” he continued.

Recalling that direct social assistance constitutes a new public policy established by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the minister stressed that the government is working within this framework to activate these royal projects by approving a set of legal texts, particularly in the section related to social protection and health coverage.

The executive has made significant progress in this area in order to help families meet the demands of life and to enshrine the principles of the social state, in particular by increasing support for school children to combat school dropout, he concluded.
