In response to a question on the social protection project, during the press briefing held at the end of the Government Council, Mr. Baitas stressed that the Royal Guidelines contained in the Royal Speech for the Throne Day of the year 2022 relate to four levels, namely the generalization of compulsory health insurance (AMO), direct social assistance, retirement and compensation for loss of employment.

Regarding the generalization of AMO, Mr. Baitas specified that the government has set decrees for each category, starting with the switch of the RAMED population directly to the “AMO TADAMON” regime while working on the payment of contributions for the citizens concerned.

In this sense, he affirmed that the financial cost of these contributions reached, under the 2024 finance law, a total of 9.5 billion dirhams.

Towards the end of last year, the government began the operationalization of the second part of the social protection project, which concerns direct social assistance, he continued, noting that citizens who submitted their applications before December 10, 2023 received their assistance, while those who submitted their applications after the same date will benefit, from the end of January, from the assistance corresponding to the months of December and January.

Furthermore, regarding the information disseminated on the collection of benefits, Mr. Baitas assured that the government does not collect amounts dedicated to social assistance, but pays them in full to the beneficiaries.
