Russian Defense Minister calls for speeding up bomber production

Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu has called for accelerating production of Su-34 tactical bomber planes to support Russia’s offensive in Ukraine.

“These planes, they have the most work, doing between four and five flights a day,” Shoigu said during a visit to an aircraft factory in Novosibirsk, Siberia.

“This is why we must accelerate” their production, he stressed.

According to the statement, the minister “instructed the factory management to accelerate production and repair work” of the Su-34s. The Novosibirsk Aviation Plant carries out, in particular, serial production, repair and modernization of Su-34 bomber aircraft. The Kremlin has reoriented all its politics and economics towards the war effort, increasing its military spending budget by 68% for 2024 compared to the previous year to reach 106 billion euros.

Bombing of downtown Kharkiv, child killed

After a Russian missile attack on the city center of Kharkiv, two buildings were damaged and another residential building was destroyed. A 10-year-old boy was found dead under the rubble. Sixteen others were injured.
