Actor and director Pratap Bothan passed away at his home in Chennai due to ill health.

Pratap Bothan was born in 1952 in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala and came to Tamil Nadu for studies. He started his career as a copywriter in a Mumbai advertising company and made his debut in the Malayalam film world in 1978 with Bharathan’s Aravam.

It marks the first turning point in the life of Pratap Bothan, who stepped into Tamil cinema with Aaliada Kolam. Balu Mahendra, who brought Pratap Bothan to the realms of immortality, introduced the artist Pratap Bothan to the world through mist.

He left a strong footprint in the history of Tamil cinema by portraying the character of mental aberration in Hollywood films. He has contributed to timeless films like The Color of Poverty is Red, Family is a Kadambam, Panneer Pushpamangal.

He has given remarkable works not only as an actor but also as a director. It is noteworthy that he made his debut as a director again with a love story and won the National Award in his very first film. He stopped working as a director and continued to act in various language films. He was last seen in Mammootty’s CBI5: The Brain. Pratap Bothan, who was part of the screen world for 40 years, passed away at the age of 69.
