Korean-American director Lee Isaac Chung (46), who has been enjoying box office success since his new film ‘Minari’ in 2020, is coming to Korea.

Warner Bros. Korea announced on the 26th that Director Jung will visit Korea on the 7th and 8th of next month to promote the movie ‘Twisters’. Along with Director Jung, lead actress Daisy Edgar Jones and producer Ashley J. Sandberg will be there. The three will attend a press conference and stage greetings. Director Jung will be visiting Korea again for the first time in about a year since attending the Busan International Film Festival last year.

Starring Glen Powell, Daisy Edgar-Jones and Anthony Ramos, the film follows climate scientists as they battle unpredictable tornadoes. It is a sequel to 1996’s Twister.

‘Twisters’ was released on the 19th and has earned $113 million in North America and $43.5 million outside of North America in the past six days, recording a total of $156.5 million (about 217 billion won) in worldwide sales. If the current trend continues, the total sales are expected to exceed $200 million this weekend. The production cost of this film is known to be around $200 million. It will be released in Korea on the 14th of next month. Director Jung’s previous work, ‘Minari’, had a total sales of $15.3 million. This work was nominated for the Oscars for Best Picture, Director, Best Actor, and Best Supporting Actress, and Youn Yuh-jung won the Best Supporting Actress award.
