A 17-year-old girl from Hosur has won gold at the Asian Para Badminton Championships. Shiva, a disabled person from Hosur, Krishnagiri district, has a daughter Nithyasree and a son Kishore. When Nithyasree was one year old, his mother Sumathi passed away due to ill health. Thus Father Shiva was deeply tormented about raising their children. In this condition years go by daughter Nithyasree and son Kishore were underdeveloped like himself which was a tragedy for father Shiva. However, Shiva saw that Nithyasree was more interested in playing feather ball and enrolled his daughter in a badminton training center there. Although Nithyasree did not grow taller, his talent grew day by day and became a mania.
Seeing his playing ability gave him the opportunity to train nationally in Lucknow. As a result, Nithyasree won gold at the 2019 Para Badminton Tournament in Nagercoil. His series effort earned him the opportunity to play in the recent Asian Para Badminton Championships in Bahrain. The girl Nithyasree won gold in the singles and silver in the doubles and surprised everyone.
Nithyasree’s father Shiva said that he realized that disability was not an obstacle to achievement due to his daughter’s success and hoped that he would continue to achieve. His coach Senthilkumar said that Nithyasree coached like other children but won gold at the Asian Badminton Championships due to his personal talent and added pride to India. His father Shiva has asked the government to provide financial assistance for Nithyasree to continue his training. It is noteworthy that student Nithyasree has once again proved to everyone that disability is not a barrier to achievement.
