“Odile Maurin needs assistance to fulfill her mandate on an equal footing with her able-bodied colleagues and refuses to do extra work, underlines David Nabet-Martin, her lawyer. We denounce the repeated refusal to provide the material means necessary for his participation in political life.

Elected from the opposition to the municipal council of Toulouse (Haute-Garonne) and Toulouse Métropole, Odile Maurin suffers from a neuro-cognitive disease, uses a wheelchair and needs human assistance and material means to fulfill its mandate.

Despite repeated requests to the town hall to finance the assistance and the provision of an adapted computer, she did not win her case and finances her expenses from her personal funds, up to 8,159 euros since the start of his term. Considering that the mayor wants to “push her to resign by strangling her financially”, she seized the administrative court to challenge the opposition of the communities to the reimbursement of the specific costs induced by her multiple disabilities.

For their part, the town hall of Toulouse (LR) and Toulouse Métropole emphasize that “all the aid provided for by the texts will be granted to it, such as reimbursement of specific travel, support and technical assistance costs (i.e. 1,838 euros). These reimbursements of costs are limited by a ceiling set by the texts. These costs are therefore covered within the limit of this ceiling. The community may in no case incur expenditure of public money outside the regulatory framework”.
