MERANO. Yesterday evening, September 12, the Operations Centre of the Public Safety Police Station in Merano received a request for help from a disabled person who, in Wheat Squarehad just undergone a snatch theft.
The patrol car that arrived on the scene, thanks to the description provided by the victim, tracked down and managed to stop a young man a few minutes later, who was trying to escape towards the train station.
The officers seized a cell phone and a credit card belonging to the victim who then filed a complaint at the police station and recognized the attacker: a 20-year-old Moroccan with a criminal record.
Subsequent investigations revealed that the same individual had been reported the day before as the perpetrator of a theft of clothing items committed in the Bata store. The young man was arrested for aggravated theft.
The police commissioner has asked the competent Territorial Commission for Refugees to revoke the international protection status.
