“Little Émile has not been found” announced the public prosecutor on Tuesday, after 72 hours of disappearance. New searches took place this Tuesday around the hamlet of Vernet (Alpes-de-Haute-Provence), with gendarmes but also soldiers, who gave nothing.

“At the moment we have no clue, no information, no element that can help us understand this disappearance”, but “the investigation continues”, assured the prosecutor.

He stressed that no progress had been made since Sunday, “we are at the same point as the day before yesterday after receiving the two testimonies”, he said. Two people have indeed declared to have seen the little boy of two and a half years, strolling Sunday in the village of Vernet. They would be the last two to have seen him.

“Anything that could be scientifically exploited” is noted

12 hectares have been combed through, the 30 houses of the hamlet searched, without anything being found so far. “We are really pushing the investigations on the ground as much as we can”, assures the prosecutor, who says that even bales of hay were searched.

Any signal is sought, “possibly traces of cigarette butts, traces of textiles, traces of blood, treading, various and varied traces, everything that could be exploited scientifically afterwards”, assures the prosecutor.

In all, 90 gendarmerie personnel and a dozen soldiers were mobilized on Tuesday to find the little boy, and the search “will be extended tomorrow”.

Everything that has been collected will now be analyzed, and “perhaps we have unknowingly collected a clue”, which will emerge in the coming days, explains the prosecutor. The investigators are also working on the telephone boundary to see who would have passed near the hamlet at the time of the disappearance.
