Is this the end of the Marwan Berreni mystery? According to several sources close to the investigation, the Villefranche-sur-Saône company gendarmes discovered this Thursday afternoon the body of a man in a house uninhabited for several months in the town of Corcelles-en-Beaujolais ( Rhône). It could be the remains of the actor from “Plus Belle la vie”, untraceable since a road accident in Mâcon (Saône-et-Loire) which occurred in August 2023. The identity is currently being verified, but the vehicle of the 34-year-old young man was found abandoned on August 5 in the neighboring town of Fleurie, less than 5 km from Corcelles-en-Beaujolais, suggesting that it was indeed the missing person.
According to initial findings, the hypothesis of suicide is being considered. Contacted, the public prosecutor of Villefranche-sur-Saône confirmed the discovery of a body, still unidentified, and announced that it had opened an investigation to research the causes of death.
Not found for two months
The mystery of the disappearance of Marwan Berreni began on August 4. That evening, Sandra, a 37-year-old woman, was struck down by a 4×4 near the Le 400 nightclub, just outside Mâcon. Witnesses and video surveillance images, time stamped at 11:10 p.m., recount a scene of incomprehensible violence. A parked car which suddenly restarts hits the young woman on a pedestrian crossing, runs over her and flees.
Sandra was unable to see the driver. But the vehicle involved, a Mercedes 4X4, was quickly identified as being regularly used by the actor of “Plus Belle la vie”, who had settled since 2019 in the neighboring town of Fussé, 15 km from Mâcon.
Taken to hospital, Sandra spent five days in intensive care, suffering from multiple fractures to her ribs and collarbone, a pneumothorax and lacerations to her liver and lung. As for Marwan Berreni, the departmental security police officers, in charge of the investigation, are seeking to question him as a witness. But the actor is nowhere to be found.
On August 5, a Mercedes 4X4, carrying a front impact and compatible with that seen on the cameras, was reported abandoned 20 km further south, along a vineyard field in Fleurie, not far from the town where a body was discovered this Thursday, October 12. Papers were found inside, including a restaurant bill possibly paid by Marwan Berreni.
His relatives sent him a letter
Is the actor on the run? Did something happen to him? Was he really the driver? All hypotheses are explored, from suicide to kidnapping to flight, but investigations are struggling to discover the reasons for this disappearance. According to those close to him, the actor disappeared quickly after the accident, without giving any explanation.
Expected for the resumption of filming of the successful soap opera “Plus Belle la vie” in September, Marwan Berreni, who plays the role of Abdel Fedala, one of the main characters with a hectic life, does not show up. At the beginning of October, his family wrote a letter, published in Libération, to ask the young man to give a sign of life: “You have the right to cry, but get back on your way, believe in yourself, believe in your dreams, even those that you don’t pronounce (…) You are unique, you are wonderful, we love your laugh, we love your smile.
