As reported by the service, the error occurred last Thursday, July 25, when the Vilnius customer service specialist did not check whether redundant information had been deleted when sending an invitation to clients for training by e-mail. Therefore, the data of other customers was sent by mistake.
All 280 email recipients were notified of this data breach and asked to delete the pinned information.
The Employment Service is investigating why the data loss prevention measures installed in all employees’ e-mails, preventing the sending of confidential information, did not activate in this case.
“Measures have been taken immediately to prevent similar cases in the future. Unfortunately, these human errors did not stop the technical measures in place. It is important that we were able to immediately identify the persons who received confidential information and contact them immediately”, claims Evaldas Bračiulis, Data Protection Officer of the Employment Service.
The Employment Service informed the State Data Protection Inspectorate about this case.
