Javelin Thrower Hudson Disappointed After Missing Olympic Final
European champion Victoria Hudson was left heartbroken after missing the final of the women’s javelin throw at the Olympic Games on Wednesday. Despite throwing her season-best of 59.69m, Hudson fell short of the automatic qualifying mark of 62m.
“Of course, I am disappointed,” Hudson said. “I am the European champion and have thrown over 60 meters in almost all competitions — where it’s said that it’s enough for Olympic qualification for the final.”
The 25-year-old athlete expressed disappointment but maintained a positive attitude, stating, “life goes on. There are still some things coming up; next year is the World Championships, the year after the European Championships. My life does not revolve around being good at the Olympics.”
Her coach, Gregor Högler, shared Hudson’s sentiment, saying, ”I am not pleased, but I do not blame her. We did not perform optimally; the others were better, and that has to be accepted.”
Despite the setback, Hudson remains focused on the future, stating, “I am still a whole person.”
