The prices of almost all daily commodities have increased in the market. In the space of a week, the price of desi onion has increased from Tk 20 to Tk 25 and now it is being sold at Tk 120 to Tk 125.

On Friday (July 12) morning, it is known that the prices of almost all vegetables have increased this week compared to last week after visiting various raw markets including Dhanmondi in the capital and talking to the sellers.

A visit to the raw market of the capital shows that eggplant is Tk 120 per kg, bitter gourd Tk 140, papaya Tk 50, sweet potato Tk 80, carrot Tk 80, green chillies Tk 280 to Tk 300, each piece of gourd, cabbage and cauliflower Tk 70 to Tk 80, tomato Tk 160. Tk, Chichinga 60, Cucumber 80, Barbati 100, Dherash 60, Patal 40, Pumpkin 40, Kakarol are being sold at Tk 100.

Meanwhile, broiler chickens are being sold at Tk 200 to Tk 210 per kg. Golden chicken is being sold at the rate of Tk 300 to 350 per kg. Beef is being sold at Tk 800 per kg and beef at Tk 1100 per kg.

The price of fish has increased due to flooding of ponds due to rains. Rui fish at Tk 350-450 per kg, Mrigel at Tk 250-350, Pangash at Tk 190-220, Prawn at Tk 700-1000 per kg, Boal fish at Tk 800-1200 per kg, Catal at Tk 300-400, Pabda at Tk 400-500 and Tilapia at Tk 220 per kg. being sold

Babul Mia, a vegetable seller at Mohammadpur Town Hall in the capital, told RisingBD that the price of vegetables is increasing due to the damage to production due to rain and floods.

Rubel Molla RisingBD, who came to shop at Salek Garden raw market in the capital, said that the price of everything in the market is higher.

According to the official agency Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB), the price of onion in the market has increased by 40-50 percent in the last one month. On the other hand, the price of imported onions has been above Tk 100 for a long time. Foreign onions were seen to be sold at Tk 110 yesterday.

Sources of Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) say that food inflation has been above 10 percent for three months in the country. Last June, food price inflation was 10.42 percent. Currently, the prices of most of the daily commodities in the market are fixed at high prices. In such a situation, the price of rice increased again.
