The island of Creïzic, in the Gulf of Morbihan, belongs to a couple of individuals, Bernard and Catherine. Together, they watch over this treasure of biodiversity with passion. Encounter.

You need to be an experienced navigator to venture into the currents of Creïzic (Morbihan). In Breton it is “middle island”. This island, located in the Gulf of Morbihan, concentrates all the attention of Bernard Pallard. Only a few clues betray the human presence on this island which has been in Bernard’s family for 150 years. Despite his pride, the owner confides that “It’s very hard” to live here. Indeed, there is no electricity or running water.

A treasure of biodiversity

Gradually, Catherine and Bernard acclimatized to Creïzic Island, where they live ten days a month. “When we arrived, […] there was no roof. In a way, the island is in charge and we adapt. Our goal is to make the island more beautiful and real”, explains Catherine Pallard. Thirty years ago, the island was just a pile of brambles and honeysuckle. Patiently, the couple reclaimed this 3.5 hectare space. Creïzic Island is now a treasure trove of biodiversity.
