Krishnagiri: Remains of iron smelting furnaces have been found near Veppanahalli during the Sangam period. Thus, students are educated and trained in archeology awareness and Paleolithic archeological remains directly on the field of historical archeological remains.

Accordingly, a field study conducted by the students at Pannapalli in Nachikuppam panchayat near Veppanahalli found evidence of the presence of iron smelters on Krishnappa’s farm land north of the town. Baked clay steel reactor pipes used to smelt mineral metals have been found in the area in small and large quantities. Also found are iron scraps from the smelting of iron, rubble used to bring the iron into the desired shape, a habitat associated with the people of the time, black and red pottery found in it, and a hammer in the middle of the town. Commenting on this, Professor of History Venkateswaran said:

The earliest period of history is the period of the people who lived during the Sangam period or when a community began to know the use of iron. During this time many people discovered iron ore and knew how to use it. The baked steel kiln pipes found here have used these steel furnaces to convert iron from smelting furnaces to easily corroded pure iron. Iron deposits can be seen sticking to one end of the currently available hot-rolled steel furnace pipes.

In addition, people living in those days set up industrial workshops and used them for smelting iron ore, extracting iron ore, hunting tools and agricultural implements. Not only do these people know the technology of iron, but they are also beginning to take a civilization to the next level. Archaeological excavations in many places show that after this an agrarian society developed and surplus production, ethnic leadership and government began to emerge. Thus he said.
