As of the 2021/22 season, the Israeli market is not particularly rich and the teams in the Premier League are looking for creative solutions to strengthen their staff as much as possible. Maccabi Haifa, it seems, is one of those who manage to find the same solutions.
Maccabi Haifa’s scouting department places emphasis on monitoring potential Jewish players, as it did recently with goalkeepers Josh Cohen and Joe Kuzminski. In the past, Maccabi Haifa added quite a few Jewish footballers, such as Daniel Bryalovsky in the 1980s or Gijermo Israelovich and Alexander Zehavi in the 2000s.
Maccabi Haifa has created a database of Jewish footballers who were not offered to them by Israeli or foreign agents and are apparently unknown to the other clubs in the country. Take the place of a stranger.
In the last window, the Greens added Mavis Chibuta, who holds Israeli citizenship, in addition to the six foreigners on their roster. Last season it was Nikita Rokavica who was on an Israeli standard, even though he was not born in the country and gained citizenship after marrying an Israeli citizen.
