The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in the National Government held a meeting with the directors of departments at the High National Elections Commission to discuss issues related to the procedures and steps taken by the Commission to engage and empower Libyan expatriates abroad.
The ministry’s statement on Facebook said, “The meeting discussed several issues related to the procedures and steps taken by the Commission in order to involve and empower Libyan expatriates abroad in any electoral process that is intended to be conducted in the future as a right guaranteed by Libyan laws and legislation.”
The statement continued, “Mechanisms that contribute to the success of the electoral process abroad were also discussed and studied in full cooperation and coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs through the exchange of data and information and the start of training courses for the Ministry’s employees, specifically for managing and facilitating the holding of elections abroad.”
He added, “The attendees discussed many other relevant issues within the framework of the national project plan to support and care for Libyan expatriates abroad, which is currently being worked on.”
The meeting was attended by the Director of the Department of Immigration and Expatriates Affairs and included both directors of the relevant departments and heads of departments in these departments.
