The Minister of Transportation of the National Unity Government, Muhammad Al-Shahoubi, discussed with the Ambassador of the Republic of Italy, Gianluca Alberni, the steps for resuming Italian airlines’ flights between the two countries.
The two parties, in the presence of the President of the Italian Civil Aviation Authority, the Director of the Italian Airlines Company, and the Commercial Attaché of the Italian Embassy, reviewed the development of Libyan-Italian relations in all fields, and the arrangements between the Italian Civil Aviation Authority and the Libyan Civil Aviation Authority.
For his part, the Italian ambassador praised the efforts made by both parties to restore air traffic between the two countries, according to the Ministry of Transportation.
In the same context, a high-level delegation headed by the head of the Italian Civil Aviation Authority, accompanied by a delegation from the Italian airline company ITA, visited Mitiga International Airport.
During the visit, which was attended by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transportation for Air Transport and the Italian Ambassador to Libya, the delegation toured a comprehensive tour of the airport to review the procedures followed, with a focus on the efforts made to ensure aviation safety and security.
ETA also expressed its readiness to reopen the air route between Libya and Italy, which reflects its desire to strengthen air links and facilitate travel between the two countries, according to the Airports Authority.
According to the Airports Authority, this visit comes within the framework of efforts to improve air services and exchange experiences in the field of civil aviation, which contributes to lifting the European air embargo imposed on Libyan airports.
