Michaeli believes that “Now Gallant and the rest of this government need to disabuse themselves of the illusion of defeating Hamas without a political foothold. The really big pressure against Hamas is strengthening the PA. And they need to disabuse themselves of the illusion that they have the option of delaying the return of the abductees and our abductees. You have no such option.”

The right-wing ministers were quick to attack the remarks, Member of Knesset Limor Son Har Melech reacted strongly to Defense Minister Yoav Galant’s words that he hopes the government will allow Palestinian workers from the Jewish State to work in Israel, and that a strong Palestinian root is an Israeli security interest.
In a tweet on Twitter, MK Limor Son Har Melech (Otzma Yehudit) wrote: “It hurts to discover that even after 7/10 there are those who are still captive to the same old concept and choose time and time again to close their eyes and think that if the welfare of the Nazis from Gaza or the West Bank will improve , this will lead to security peace. The Palestinian Authority is an enemy just like Hamas, the fear is real and we must do everything so that the Palestinians do not return to work both in the territories of Little Israel and in the territories of Yosh. And if the Minister of Defense chooses not to implement a right-wing policy for which he was elected, he is invited to return the keys. No one will cry about it.”
There were also those in Likud who criticized Galant’s words, Minister of Culture and Sports Miki Zohar at the cabinet meeting: “The introduction of Palestinian workers into Israeli territory, after everything we went through on October 7th with the introduction of workers from Gaza, and against the background of the data proving that a vast majority of Palestinians in Israel support the massacre they carried out Hamas is dangerous to Israel’s security and we must prevent it. We need to immediately find a solution to the plight of the workers that does not endanger the security of the citizens of Israel by bringing in foreign workers as soon as possible.”
