Action against account sharing
Disney+ introduces additional membership

Disney+ is taking action against unauthorized sharing of accounts. In the future, members will be able to take out an additional subscription so that other people can watch.
The streaming provider Disney+ will in future offer an additional membership to the existing subscription in order to be able to add a household member. The service wants to take action against unauthorized sharing of accounts.
The streaming service Netflix is the model. Last year it introduced an additional membership if users wanted to share their access data with others.
However, Disney+ does a few things differently than its competitor with its additional subscription. Netflix members, for example, can share their account with someone who does not live in the same household for 4.99 euros or 3.99 euros per month. The costs depend on the subscription taken out.
The price for Disney+ is slightly higher, but it also depends on the subscription you have taken out. For the cheapest membership, Disney+ Standard with advertising (5.99 euros per month), the additional subscription costs 4.99 euros per month.
For the more expensive subscriptions Disney+ Standard (8.99 euros) and Disney+ Premium (11.90 euros), the price for the additional membership is 5.99 euros per month.
Unlike Netflix, Disney+ only allows one additional member per account. With its competitor, subscribers to higher subscription levels can add up to two members.
In a blog post, Disney+ writes that it is making the additional memberships available in the USA, Canada, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Europe and the Asia-Pacific region. You can invite another subscriber in this country in the profile settings under “Account”.
Last June, Disney+ adjusted its usage fees and prepared for additional membership. Anyone who has a Disney+ account and shares it with strangers from other households will be violating the streaming service’s usage agreement in the future.
“Unless otherwise permitted by your subscription options, you may not share your account with anyone outside of your household,” Disney+ writes in its guidelines. If the provider detects account sharing, “we may take appropriate technical measures” against it, it continues.
Disney+ currently has three subscription models to choose from. The cheapest membership costs 5.99 euros per month and includes commercial breaks.
The subscription for 8.99 euros allows streaming for two devices at the same time. Content is available in Full HD resolution. And the most expensive subscription costs 11.99 euros for four devices and content in 4K/HDR resolution.
Disney+ is a streaming service that offers content from the Disney universe, including films, series and documentaries from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars and National Geographic.
