Disqualification of Rahul Gandhi; Congress denied permission for Satyagraha in Delhi

Delhi: The police denied permission for the Congress satyagraha that was to be held at Delhi’s Rajghat to protest the disqualification of Rahul Gandhi. AICC General Secretary K. said that the government does not allow opposition protests. C. Venugopal said.

Denial of protests has become a regular style of the Modi government. KC Venugopal added that despite the denial of permission, he will continue with the satyagraha strike.

The Congress had planned to start the Satyagraha from 10 am today to protest the disqualification of Rahul Gandhi from the Lok Sabha. Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge had earlier announced that leaders including party general secretary Priyanka Gandhi would participate in the satyagraha. The Congress had hoped that other opposition parties would also participate in the satyagraha.

The Congress has also called for other protests since Monday. The Congress will file an appeal against the verdict against Rahul Gandhi by Tuesday.
