Serious disrespect was experienced at the civic-military parade in Tumbes
A serious disrespect was experienced on Saturday morning at the civic-military parade in Tumbes, where two councilwomen preferred to remain seated and talking on their cell phones rather than paying homage to the Flag of Peru as it passed by the honor stand.
In the images, councilwoman Maribel Gonzales Aponte and Roxette Gonzales Saldarriaga were seen remaining seated while the other officials stood up to applaud the National Flag as it went by the honor stand.
The two councilwomen stayed in their seats until, apparently, someone signaled them to stand up, with one of them still holding her cell phone, seemingly indifferent to the parade in which students and public and private institutions were making their best effort for a better presentation to win the admiration and applause of the audience.
The two councilwomen have been seen alongside the mayor of Tumbes and apparently “favoring” him with their votes in council meetings; their oversight work is not known, nor are there any ordinances raised before the full council.
They have also not been seen denouncing alleged acts of corruption committed during the current administration; however, both have been assigned to the mayor’s office during some trips made by the mayor to the city of Lima on several occasions.
