The Military Forces had a confrontation with dissidents from the Second Marquetalia, in the department of Nariño. According to the official force, the illegals managed to camouflage themselves among civilians to avoid being captured in the middle of the operation.
The incident occurred on the morning of December 31 in the Yayara-Guañambi village of the municipality of Roberto Payán. Members of the Army, the Navy and the Colombian Aerospace Force arrived in the area to try to deal a blow to the Alfonso Cano front of the Second Marquetalia.

“The military operation (…) was illegally interrupted by people dressed in civilian clothes, within whom members of this armed organization would be hidden, which prevented legal procedures, urgent acts and other judicial actions from being carried out by the competent authorities. “, indicated the Military Forces Command in a statement.
The official forces shared several photographs showing several illegals who were armed, but dressed in civilian clothes and without any insignia that would identify them as members of the subversive group.

“Compiled complaints would demonstrate that this structure, whose leader is alias Allende (one of the main objectives of high strategic value of that organized armed group that commits crimes from Colombia) had been plaguing this region with the commission of crimes such as selective homicides, extortion, drug trafficking forced recruitment of minors among others,” the Military Forces added.
According to the military report, the fact that the illegals dress in civilian clothes reveals their modus operandi: to hinder the development of operations while quickly mixing with the civilian population to, in this way, generate false information and carry out deception.
“An additional component of the Military Forces was sent to the area of the events to strengthen offensive operations in that region of the southwest of the country and will carry out the relevant legal actions against this type of violations,” the official forces stated.
