“The distinguished ties between the two friendly countries draw their strength from the fraternal relations between HM King Mohammed VI and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, as well as the convergence of the orientations of the two countries, characterized by ties of solidarity and agreement of views on bilateral, regional and international issues,” stressed Mr. Bourita during a joint press briefing with his Azerbaijani counterpart, Jeyhun Bayramov, at the end of the 2nd Morocco-Azerbaijan joint commission.

The 2nd Morocco-Azerbaijan Joint Commission was an opportunity to review and assess the achievements made in recent years and to determine the future stages of the promising relationship between the two countries, the minister said, stressing that the legal framework of cooperation has been enriched by the signing of several agreements covering several areas such as energy, logistics and many others.

Many initiatives and activities that will be implemented in the near future should give new impetus to sectoral cooperation and deepen and diversify the partnership between the two countries, added Mr. Bourita.

This meeting was also an opportunity for an exchange of views on a set of regional and international issues, said Mr. Bourita, who expressed to Mr. Bayramov “Morocco’s great appreciation for the clear and firm positions of the Republic of Azerbaijan, as well as for its support for national sovereignty, the territorial integrity of the Kingdom and its legitimate rights over its southern provinces.”

“Coming from a friendly country with which Morocco maintains strong ties, distinguished relations and unwavering solidarity, these positions are highly appreciated by HM the King, the Moroccan people and all the vital forces of the Kingdom,” said Mr. Bourita.

The two countries also attach great importance to consolidating their economic relations, as evidenced by the holding, on Tuesday, of a Business Forum in the presence of several businessmen and economic actors from both countries, which will create opportunities for partnership between economic actors, contribute to the creation of an environment favorable to investments and trade and give impetus to bilateral cooperation as well as a new boost to trade.

Regarding the consolidation of human, cultural and tourist relations between the two countries, Mr. Bourita noted that the Republic of Azerbaijan was the first country to benefit from the adoption of the electronic visa to enter Moroccan territory, which had a positive impact on promoting Morocco as a tourist and business destination and increasing the number of Azerbaijani visitors to the Kingdom.
