The chairman of Otzma Yehudit MK Itamar Ben Gabir, designated for the position of Minister of National Security, announces at the faction’s meeting that he demands that the Likud receive special status in the Ministerial Committee for Legislation. According to him, he wants this in order to verify his control over this forum.

As we know, the Ministerial Committee for Legislation is considered the main channel for approving all legislative issues in the Knesset, and controlling this committee allows for the promotion or stopping of private or government legislation.

According to Ben Gvir: “Unfortunately, in the last few days I suddenly hear stuttering regarding the continuation of the agreements, also in connection with what has already been signed and agreed upon, in the sections relating to the implementation of this policy.”

“There is a chapter on ideology and we sat in closed rooms and talked about it. There is a chapter on principles, we sat in closed rooms, we talked and things were agreed upon, but suddenly there are stutters on these issues.”

“I understand that maybe it’s because of the pressure of the media, maybe for another reason, but what’s certain is that in the negotiation rooms for the last few nights, and I didn’t sleep those nights, I suddenly heard other chants, which endanger our ability to face the difficult challenges that we have developed.”

“Ensure the realization of national goals”

“Therefore, in order to make sure that the conclusions are realized, we stand by our demand to receive significant tools that will allow us to influence the legislation in the State of Israel, we must pass the immunity law for soldiers and police, which will allow them to face terrorists. We must pass the change in opening fire procedures, when unfortunately the outgoing minister I don’t really know the procedures that limit our fighters.”

“That’s why I demanded a mandatory status in the Ministerial Committee for Legislative Affairs, which would allow me to verify the realization of these national goals. These demands are essential, basic and principled demands and this is the only way to establish a fully right-wing government.”
