Title: Shocking Video Emerges: Two Women from Kuki Tribe Dragged Naked and Assaulted in Manipur

Date: [Date]

Location: Imphal, Manipur

In a horrific incident that has sparked outrage and condemnation, a video has surfaced showing two women from the Kuki tribal community being brutally dragged naked on the road by a group of men belonging to the Maithei community. The incident, which took place in Bi Bynom village of Gangbokpi district, approximately 35 km from Manipur capital Imphal, has sent shockwaves across the state.

According to reports, the two victims who were subjected to this barbaric act were also sexually assaulted by the group of men involved. It has now come to light that the incident occurred on May 4, but the video has only recently gone viral. Although an FIR has been registered in connection with the incident, the Manipur Police is yet to provide any information on whether any arrests have been made.

The Tribal Leaders Forum (ITLF), an organization representing the Kuki tribe, has confirmed that the two victims belonged to the Kuki-cho tribe. The group has expressed deep concern over the incident and demanded swift action from the authorities. The violent mobs involved in the incident reportedly went on to torch houses in Bynom village and attacked a group of five individuals who managed to escape. Among the fleeing group were two men and three women.

Tragically, a man was killed by the violent mob, and the two women were forced to strip and subjected to torture. The organization revealed that a 20-year-old woman was gang-raped during the ordeal. The brother of the assaulted woman was also brutally beaten to death when he tried to intervene and stop the attack, while the other two women managed to escape.

The shocking incident has garnered attention from across the country, with Uttar Pradesh Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi expressing her dismay. Gandhi stated, “The images of sexual violence against women from Manipur are shocking. There is little condemnation for this horrific incident of violence against women. Women and children bear the brunt of violence in society.”

The incident has occurred against the backdrop of an ongoing conflict between the Maithei community residing in the valley and the tribal people in Manipur. On May 3rd, the Kuki and Naga tribes staged protests against the Manipur state government’s refusal to grant them tribal status. Since then, the region has experienced a surge in violence, with thousands of shops, houses, and institutions being attacked.

Government officials have reported that over 135 individuals have lost their lives in the violence, along with hundreds of injuries. Thousands of people have been forced to seek shelter in security camps. In response to the escalating situation, more than 50,000 soldiers have been deployed in the region. However, incidents of arson, vehicle burnings, house fires, weapon thefts, and shootings continue to occur on a daily basis.

The latest incident of violence against the Kuki tribal women calls for immediate action from both the law enforcement agencies and the government. The perpetrators must be swiftly brought to justice to ensure the safety and security of all communities residing in Manipur.
