Divya, who started her acting career with ‘Ab Tumhare Hawale Watan Saathiyo’, when she made ‘Yaariyan’ as a director, her film joined the 100 crore club. Divya, who has worked in many music videos in the past years, got praise for her role in ‘Yaariyan 2’. These days she is in the news for her film ‘Saavi’. Her film is trending at number one in more than 15 countries on OTT. Divya believes that hard work never goes waste. A special conversation with her.After coming on OTT, your film ‘Saavi’ is trending at number one in more than 15 countries around the world? What do you think the audience liked about it?
-I am very happy that this film is trending in 15 countries across the world and is being watched by a global audience. In the true sense, this is my first film where I got a chance to prove myself as an actress. My producer Mukesh Bhatt also said that I have not got a chance yet, but when I am given a chance, only then will I be able to prove myself.

‘People are liking the story, characters and acting of all the actors’
This is a female-oriented film and the entire responsibility was on me. Now that this film is getting so much love on OTT, I am happy that my hard work has paid off. Its story has connected people a lot. People liked the thriller style in which our director Abhinay Dev presented it. People found it interesting to see a woman and that too a housewife breaking the jail and freeing her innocent husband. A housewife works hard for her family all her life, but we do not give importance to her efforts. This character is taken from Satyavan and Savitri of our culture, where Savitri fought with Yamraj to save the life of her husband Satyavan. People are liking the story, character and the acting of all the actors.
Recently the Supreme Court had commented that housewives should also get salary, the court believes that the contribution of a housewife is invaluable. What would you say on this?
-According to me, her salary is so that she gets love and respect from her family. Many times she does not get that respect from her family. She is thought to have less talent. But it is possible that she is skilled in household chores, may be an expert in cooking. Many times she excels in various tasks, but is unable to complete them due to the responsibility of family and children. Many times her family does not allow her, she does not get an opportunity, but this does not mean that she does not have talent. Housewife is the backbone of the family.

What did you learn from your co-star in the film, Anil Kapoor?
-A lot. He has a passion for work. I am also passionate like him, so it was a lot of fun working with him. He has been in the industry for many years, but despite this, his passion for work has not diminished at all. He is constantly engaged in work. I remember, it was the first day of shooting with Anil Kapoor ji. I was crying on the set because I got injured in an action scene. I was in a lot of pain. It was 2.30 in the night and Anil ji came to me and said that the picture is a hit. Any film of mine in which an actor has been injured, that film definitely works. Today, when this film is being appreciated on Netflix, I remember his words. However, the period after getting injured during shooting was very difficult. My whole face was peeled off. I was on painkillers and steroids. I took a break for two days and then got back to work.

What does your son Ruhaan react to your work?
-He feels very proud of my success. He is very happy. When I told him that my film is being liked in so many countries globally, he said, this is the best news ever. My son is very close to me. Even when I got hurt on the set in London, he immediately reached there to meet me. He is very caring.
You were very close to your mom. What did you learn from her?-My mother always used to say that to become extraordinary, you have to make extraordinary efforts. She always taught me moral values. She taught me to be a strong woman. I am not as strong as my mother. My mother was very strong. Mummy always insisted on me becoming a good person. She used to say that we should always make a connection with God and take strength from him.
