Air Pollution Level Reaches 197 Points in Coimbatore due to Diwali Firecrackers

Coimbatore: As the city of Coimbatore celebrated the festival of Diwali with bursts of firecrackers, the air pollution level reached a maximum of 197 points, according to the Pollution Control Board.

The Pollution Control Board conducted measurements in two areas, Goundampalayam and the District Administration Office. The pollution level was recorded at 187 points in Goundampalayam, while it peaked at 197 points in the district administration office.

According to standards, a maximum of more than 200 points is considered a poor air pollution level, and between 201 and 300 points is categorized as a very bad air pollution level. In this case, with Coimbatore recording a maximum of 197 points, it has been revealed that the level of pollution is not at a dangerous level.

While the air pollution level is not at a critical stage, it is still essential to be mindful of the impact of bursting firecrackers on the environment and public health.

As the city moves towards a post-Diwali phase, it is crucial for the residents to adopt eco-friendly and sustainable methods to celebrate festivals to minimize the adverse effects on the environment.

As we strive to balance tradition and environmental conservation, it is important to be socially responsible and considerate of the community’s well-being.
