People from other districts living in Chennai have been traveling to their hometowns by trains, omni and government buses, cars and planes since yesterday evening for Diwali, which will be celebrated the day after tomorrow (Monday).

As of this evening, 2.43 lakh people have traveled from Chennai in 4 thousand 772 government buses, according to the Transport Corporation. Apart from this, it is said that more than 5 lakh people have gone from Chennai to other places through other means of transport including trains and cars.

In this case, thousands of people traveled to their hometowns by trains from Chennai Central, Egmore and Tambaram railway stations. Due to this, people thronged the railway stations to board the unreserved coaches. After this, the railway police were engaged in the task of clearing the crowd.
