The local government in Diwaniyah Governorate announced, today, Wednesday, the details of its plan for the month of Muharram, while indicating the tightening of security measures at the entrances and exits of the governorate and the deployment of checkpoints on the main streets to prevent any security breaches.

Diwaniyah Governor Abbas Shuail Al-Zamili told the (INA): “An expanded meeting was held with the security services, service and health departments in the governorate to discuss the plan for the month of Muharram. During the meeting, joint detachments were formed between the security services and the governorate was divided into eight sectors to ensure the smooth flow of the Husseini processions, as well as tightening security measures at the entrances and exits of the governorate and deploying checkpoints on the main streets to prevent any security breaches.”
Al-Zamili added, “The economic committees affiliated with the National Security Directorate will monitor the rise in food and ice factory prices and take legal action against manipulators.”
He added that “the routes of the Husseini processions have been determined, bottlenecks have been addressed, and campaigns have been implemented to remove violations in the streets used by participants in the Ashura rituals,” stressing that “the Diwaniyah Health Department has been directed to publish awareness posters and launch blood donation campaigns.”
He pointed out “the implementation of service campaigns, lighting and rehabilitation of the Husseini processions street and the Imam Abu al-Fadl Ibn al-Imam al-Kadhim (peace be upon him) Square.”
