‘Djibouti’ is the first film to be directed by sj sinu, who directed the major episodes of the popular television series ‘Salt and Chili’. Produced by Joby P. Sam, a Malayalee businessman from Djibouti, an African country under the banner of Nail Communication on Bluehill, the film introduces the African country and its cultural landscape to India. The songs and teaser of the film have already hit the charts. Director SJ Sinu shares his hopes with Asianet News Online as the film, which stars Amit Chakkala in the lead role, is about to release.
From mini screen to big screen
I have a lot of hope and anticipation when it comes to the audience with ‘Djibouti’. The television series I prepared, ‘Salt and Pepper’, was very popular. The series received great acclaim. From there, ‘Djibouti’ gives the audience a great visual experience with all the ingredients they love when it comes to film. This is a film that is seen with the family, and it is worth mentioning that ‘Djibouti’ introduces the African country to the Malayalee audience. The scenery of the place is beautifully incorporated in the film. The view of ‘Djibouti’ is so important that the audience must have seen the film in the theater itself.
The only Malayalam film that never stopped shooting during Kovid’s time
‘Djibouti’ is a Malayalam movie that continues to be shot after the announcement of the lock down, including when the film industry was completely paralyzed. The film was completed with the support of the entire team. And the local government and the filmmaker helped a lot. We went to Djibouti with a crew of about 75 people. Although the Kovid 19 lockdown exists in all the major areas of Djibouti, we were not affected by the restrictions as the film was shot 300 km away from populated areas. The shooting took place at a place called ‘Tajura’. The ministers of ‘Djibouti’ had come to Kochi for the launch of the film. Ministers were also present at the location. Kovid had been examined by doctors at the location in the background.
The importance of love and action
As the trailer suggests, the film has the same emphasis on romance and action. The film also has dishes that will appeal to all types of audiences alike. Djibouti is two hours and 20 minutes. The audience who watches the movie for such a long time will never get tired. The making is such that it can be so close to the film. Amit Chakkalakal will play the lead role. Shagun Jaswal from Shimla plays the lead role. Dileesh Pothen, Jacob Gregory and Biju Sopanam are also in the lead roles. The film also stars Tamil actors Kishore, Dileesh Pothen, Gregory, Rohit Maggu, Nazir Sankranti, Geetha, Sunil Sukhada, Biju Sopanam, Baby George, Pauly Watson, Anjali Nair, Jayasree and Athira Harikumar. As a newcomer director, I get a lot of support from the cast.

Amit Chakkala in the lead role in the new movie too
‘Ther’ is a film I made after ‘Djibouti’. The shooting of the film is over and the film will hit theaters by the end of January. Amit Chakkalakal is accompanied by Kalabhavan Shajon, Baburaj, Vijayaraghavan, Sreejith Ravi, Prashanth Alexander, Pramod Velianad and Sanja Shivram. Aziz Nedumangad, Siminu Sijo, Nilja K. The film also stars Baby, Veena Nair, Riya Saira and Suresh Babu in the lead roles. The shooting was completed in and around Palakkad.
