Paris: Novak Djokovic’s impeachment is coming to an end in the world tennis rankings. Whoever wins the French Open, Djokovic’s number one ranking is just days away. Serbia’s Djokovic currently leads the ATP rankings with 8660 points. Russia’s Danil Medvedev is second, German Alexander Zverev third, Greek’s Stefanos Tsitsipas fourth and Spanish legend Rafael Nadal fifth.
All five have played in the French Open, but only Alexander Sware and Rafael Nadal have advanced to the semifinals. When the new rankings come into effect on June 6, everyone is looking forward to the change in the top five. After losing to Rafael Nadal in the quarterfinals, Novak Djokovic, the 2021 French Open champion, lost his 2000 ATP points. With the departure of second – ranked Medvedev, the performance of third seed Alexander Swarovski will be decisive in the rankings. The French Open final is on June 5. If Alexander Swarovski wins the title, Djokovic will lose the number one spot in the next day’s ATP rankings.
Swarev will be the world number one for the first time. Djokovic is second and Medvedev is third. Djokovic will have to give up second place to Medvedev when the rankings are renewed on the 13th. Swarev loses in the final, but Djokovic suffers a setback. Medvedev could retain the number one spot on the sixth day but will return to the top spot a week later. Djokovic will fall to third.
If Rafael Nadal knocks out Alexander Swarovski in the semi-finals, Djokovic will face a major setback in recent times.
While he may retain the top spot in the sixth-place rankings, he has the potential to be knocked out of even the top three when the new list of thirteen arrives.
