If a father or mother in the family is in politics, it does not mean that their successors should not enter politics. Our India is a democratic country. Anyone who has completed 18 years of age and is eligible to vote can enter politics. Can contest elections. But succession politics means that the leadership of a party is confined to one family. Succession politics is where only members of the same family by birth become party leaders. The Congress is led by members of the Nehru family, even if someone else is the party leader.
When Karunanidhi, who was DMK leader for 49 years, passed away, Stalin became the leader. This is succession politics. If the leadership responsibility of making decisions and leading the party continues to remain with only one family, others will not get the opportunities they deserve. He became Udhayanidhi Minister within a year and a half of becoming an MLA despite the presence of many talented people. In BJP, no family member comes to the leadership position. Not only national leadership, but any state leadership has no heirs.
