Nagercoil: DMK candidate Mahesh won the Nagercoil mayoral election by a margin of four votes.

DMK has taken over as the first mayor of Nagercoil after being upgraded as a corporation. Mary Princy Latha of the DMK won as deputy mayor.

In the constituency, DMK councilor Asaithambi contested against Merlin Sheeba, who was declared the candidate. Asaithambi 10, Merlin Sheeba 9, Cong., Candidate Prabhin Raja got 2 votes. The re-election took place as no one got the required 11 votes for a majority. DMK candidate Asaithambi won by 12 votes.

DMK in Padmanabhapuram Candidate Arul Sopan won. Kollangodu municipality has been allotted to the DMK in alliance with the Maoists. Lalita contested on behalf of the party. Rani contested against him on behalf of DMK, in which Rani won by 18 votes. Lalita got 10, BJP, candidate Sudha got 5 votes.

Leaders who refused to submit to leadership

Of the four municipalities in the district, only Padmanabhapuram was won by the DMK-led candidate. In Kulachal, Kuzhithurai, Kollangode DMK, disgruntled candidates won.
