Former India captain Zaheer Khan has criticized captain Rishabh Pund for not using Yusvendra Sahal in the first T20I match against South Africa.

The South African cricket team has arrived in India for a five-match T20I series against India.

Rishabh Pund is leading the Indian team for this series as most of the senior players have been retired. The Indian team, led by Rishabh Pund, scored 211 in the first match against South Africa but lost the match due to poor bowling.

While bowling was the main reason for the Indian team’s defeat in the first match, as one bowler put it, there was growing criticism that captain Rishabh Pund did not use the bowlers properly. Many former players have been critical of Rishabh Pund’s foolish decision to give Yusvendra Sahal just 2 overs for not using him properly, especially in the IPL series.

Similarly, Zaheer Khan, a former member of the Indian cricket team, has also criticized Rishabh Pundt’s decision not to use Sahal properly.

Commenting on this, Zahir Khan said, “It is true that Sahil was not used properly by Rishabh Pund. Rishabh Pund should have given 4 overs to Sahal too. Despite giving up too many runs in the first over, we have seen in many matches that Sahil bowled very well and made a breakthrough in the next over. Even the outcome of the first match could have been different if Sahal had been used properly. Although the coaches advised Sahal not to overdo it, it was up to Rishabh Pund to decide. Rishabh Pundt has every right to decide on the field as per the circumstances, so Rishabh Pund should have given 4 overs to Sahal even though the coaches had said so. Rishabh Pund needs to rectify some of these mistakes as soon as possible. ”

The second T20I match between India and South Africa is scheduled for tomorrow (12-6-22).
