Jalal Yunus did not take minimum time to resign from Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) after receiving a call from National Sports Council. This experienced sports organizer was associated with the Bangladesh Cricket Board in various roles and positions for 23 years of the last 27 years. But this time he could not hold his place.
Ahmed Sazzadul Alam Bobir, another sports organizer, is in the same situation. Two were elected BCB directors in the last election on the quota of National Sports Council. Everything has changed with the change of government. It is an open secret that neither of them can remain as board directors. Because, in their place, Farooq Ahmed and Nazmul Abedin Fahim will be announced as new board directors.
Jalal Yunus immediately sent his resignation by mail. He clearly stated that he will not be a board director. But Ahmed Sazzadul Alam Bobby has not stepped down yet. It is known that he will not resign. He also received a call from the National Sports Council. He has made it clear that he will not resign. He will accept whatever decision the National Sports Council takes.
Ahmed Sazzadul Alam told RisingBD over the phone, “I received the call in the morning. NSC Secretary Aminul Islam called and said, I have been ordered to resign. The government wants my resignation. I immediately said, it is my decision. If you have any decision please let me know. That’s all.’
It is clear from Sajjadul’s words that he is not interested in resigning from the board. But the government also does not want to keep him in this position. Being nominated by the Sports Council, the Sports Council can exempt them. Now Sazzadul is waiting for that.
He was on the cricket board from 1983 to 1991. Although his position has been shaken due to political reasons, he has always shown his ability as an organizer. However, during the tenure of Nazmul Hasan Papon, he had to stay behind. As he did not like the activities of the board, he was also absent in the board meeting. In the last term, he served as the chairman of the tournament committee.
