jpnn.comJAKARTA – Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives Puan Maharani in a speech at the Joint Session, Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Friday (16/8), raised several questions regarding the implementation of the election.

Initially, Puan said that the implementation of the 2024 Election had ended and the people had exercised their sovereign right to vote.

“The people cannot be blamed for their choices, whatever the basis for their considerations,” said the chairman of the PDI Perjuangan DPP, Friday.

Puan said that the experience of democracy was long, because elections had been held many times, even before the reform era.

Puan then asked a question. “Did the election at that time meet the requirements for a free, honest and fair election? Please answer,” said the daughter of the fifth President of the Republic of Indonesia, Megawati Soekarnoputri.

Puan said that a quality election cannot only be seen from people’s participation in voting.

However, said the grandson of the Proclaimer of the Republic of Indonesia, Soekarno or Bung Karno, the quality of the election must be seen from the independence of the people in determining their choice.

“Can the people choose freely, honestly, fairly, without coercion, without control, and without fear?” said Puan asked in her speech.
