The third season of DOC kicks off. In your hands, the successful TV series, broadcast on Rai1 from 11 January in eight evenings: the first two also at the cinema on 18 and 19 December. Protagonist Luca Argentero in the now famous role of Dr. Andrea Fanti, head of Internal Medicine at the Ambrosiano Polyclinic in Milan: a character inspired by the true story of the doctor Pierdante Piccioni who, due to a head injury, lost his memory.

Fanti has forgotten the last twelve years of his life, which vanished into thin air due to a gunshot to the head, fired by the father of a young patient. Now Doc will have to face new challenges, in the private and professional spheres. «When we started working on the third season – Argentero begins – I was curious to understand how it was possible to find a strong link to continue the story. I think we did it. My Fanti, reinstated in the role of head doctor, tries to manage the department in the best possible way, above all to maintain high attention towards patients. But the sudden return of the past occurs, lost memories begin to resurface.”

The medical drama, produced by Lux Vide (Fremantle Group) in collaboration with Rai Fiction and directed by Jan Maria Michelini, Nicola Abbatangelo and Matteo Oleotto, and the screenplay by Francesco Arlanch and Viola Rspoli, has been sold in over 50 countries around the world . Among the other protagonists Matilde Gioli is doctor Giulia Giordano; Sara Lazzaro, the beloved ex-wife of the protagonist, Agnese Tiberi; Pierpaolo Spollon, the young resident. The new entries: Laura Cravedi plays the brilliant doctor Martina Carelli; Giacomo Giorgio, the young intern Federico Lentini; Elisa Wong, the Lin Wang resident of Chinese origins.

Gioli underlines: «We find Giulia in a newfound serenity, after having faced the tragedy of being in love with a man, Doc, who no longer remembers their relationship. A sense of total frustration.” Lazzaro intervenes: «The memory of her ex-husband is returning and it’s a problem: she tries to hold on to that repressed past to protect Andrea from unspeakable secrets».

If in the first season Doc discovered that the present is different from what he believed and in the second, with the fight against Covid, his goal was to protect his future and that of his loved ones, in the third Fanti comes to terms with a past, different from what had been described to him. «I am celebrating my twenty-year career – continues Argentero – I am proud of this character inspired by the true story of an exceptional man, Piccioni, who was able to transform a big problem into a positive event. Doc creates empathy with the audience and I am thrilled by the idea of families gathering in front of the TV to watch the story evolve. I never thought of enrolling in medical school, but in recent years I have learned a little about the subject: now I know how to read blood tests competently.” Will there be a fourth season? «It could go on until Doc 12, but it depends on what we are able to put in place».
