(Keystone-ATS) One of the two doctors charged in Matthew Perry’s death will appear in court in Los Angeles today, where he is expected to plead guilty to supplying the actor with increasingly dangerous doses of ketamine.

The doctor allegedly took advantage of Perry’s history as a drug addict and his financial availability.

Dr. Mark Chavez, 54, of San Diego, pleaded guilty to charges earlier this month and faces 10 years in prison. He admitted to obtaining the surgical anesthetic to sell to Perry by getting it from his former clinic and through a wholesale drug distributor by submitting a fake prescription.

Chávez is the third person to plead guilty, of the five defendants in the overdose that killed the beloved Chandler Bing of Friends on October 28. Already collaborating with investigators are an acquaintance of the actor, who admitted to acting as a drug mule and intermediary, and his assistant, Kenneth Iwamasa, who found him dead in the hot tub of the Pacific Palisades mansion and who admitted to helping him obtain and inject ketamine on the day of his death.

The three are helping prosecutors indict the two main defendants: Dr. Salvador Plasencia, accused of setting up a system to “fleece” the actor, illegally selling him the substance in the weeks before his death, and the ‘queen of ketamine’ Jasveen Sangha, who sold the artist the lethal dose. Both have pleaded not guilty and are awaiting trial (scheduled for the fall).
