Doctor specializing in gender dysphoria warns minors

by time news

Head of Pediatric Psychiatry at the University of Tampere, the largest pediatric clinic of its kind in Finland, Dr. Riitatakerttu Kaltiala made a statement explaining why he is against the promotion of “sex change” for minors.

The doctor’s position was detailed in a document sent to the social and health committee of the Finnish parliament, which recently approved a law authorizing people aged 18 or over to change their data in public documents according to gender identity, without the need to medical-psychological opinion.

In it, the specialist in gender dysphoria explains that 4 out of 5 children who are confused about their own sexual identity overcome this conflict naturally, over the years, as they mature.

She states that instead of promoting medical interventions, such as the application of hormones and/or cosmetic adaptation surgeries, the most sensible thing is to “monitor the situation, reassure the child and treat the family’s anxiety and possible problems related” to dysphoria.

gender dysphoria

Recognized by psychiatry, gender dysphoria is a condition in which the individual does not recognize himself, psychologically, by biological sex. In recent years this has been massively promoted by activists in the LGBT+ movement, and others, as part of supposed human sexual “diversity”.

When talking about the number of children and teens who claim to be transgender, Dr. Riitatakerttu Kaltiala explained that due to the early stage of development, minors are more susceptible to the influence of adults.

“During the development process in adolescence, children begin to understand who they are,” explains the expert, according to CBN News. “Young people experiment with different identities and are subject to suggestions. In one situation he feels one thing, and in another, another. It’s normal in adolescence.”

From this statement, therefore, it is possible to note that the massive exposure of children and adolescents to pro-transgender propagandistic content can affect the view that these young people have of themselves, making them confused for reasons that would not exist under normal circumstances.

Another position refuted by doctor Riitatakerttu Kaltiala is the idea that the lack of “treatment” in favor of the supposed sex change, for young people, can favor the emergence of suicidal thoughts.

For the psychiatrist, this is “purposeful disinformation whose dissemination is irresponsible”, she says. “Mentally healthy young people who experience their gender in a way that is different from their biological body are not automatically suicidal,” explains the expert.

“It is not justified to tell the parents of young people who experience transgenderism that the young person is at risk of suicide without corrective treatment, and that the danger can be counteracted with gender reassignment treatment”, concludes Kaltiala.
