Doctors called the main symptoms of infection “Omicron” in children

by time news

The most common symptoms of infection with the Omicron strain of coronavirus are runny nose, cough, sore throat and fatigue, according to the latest data from doctors. Business Insider writes about this with reference to the results of the Zoe COVID Symptom Study, based on data from a mobile application through which UK residents report their symptoms.

According to Emma Duncan, a professor at King’s College London, an analysis of several hundred cases of infection in children aged 8-12 showed that most often they have the disease with these symptoms. Headache, sneezing, high body temperature may also be present. Other physicians who participated in the study identified a number of other, rarer symptoms of the new strain of COVID-19 – gastrointestinal disorders in the form of diarrhea, as well as a rash. Also sometimes there is inflammation of the upper and lower respiratory tract with a loud “barking” cough.

According to Professor Duncan, in all cases of infection of children considered, there was no asymptomatic course of the disease. At the same time, most of the infected minors were vaccinated, and in the unvaccinated, the disease proceeded in the same way as in the vaccinated.

A number of pediatricians from other countries, whose opinion is given in the study, reported that they observed similar symptoms in children with Omicron.
