Doctors, in Aosta Valley more people register for competitions and the ‘drain’ slows down – Health and Wellbeing

by times news cr

(ANSA) – AOSTA, 20 AUG – In the area of recruitment and retention of healthcare personnel, this year there were 120 candidates for 13 public competitions for medical directors (previously there had been 24 applications for the same positions), with a significant increase in both the number of registered candidates and the eligible candidates included in the ranking. This was reported by the Aosta Valley Health Authority.
“The number of terminations not due to retirement in recent years – we read in a note – also shows a positive trend, decreasing. Furthermore, training courses for family doctors have reached maximum enrollment capacity, with 10 enrolled in the Regional Course of General Medicine”.
“The growth in the number of people registered for our competitions, as well as the slowdown in the so-called ‘drain’ – comments the general director of the Usl, Massimo Uberti – represent an important, encouraging result, which translates the commitment that we have been concentrating for some time on the sector that is today the most critical at a national level for the stability of the public health system: the recruitment and retention of medical and healthcare personnel. The challenges that we are facing and that we will continue to face in the coming years are enormous, but these results show us that the path we are taking is the right one.
This does not mean that we will recover all the gap accumulated over many years, but we are reversing the trend and we are starting to see the situation improve”. The regional health councillor, Carlo Marzi, adds: “The future of the Aosta Valley health system depends on the ability to retain its professionals and attract new ones: many of the daily and most felt problems of our community start, in fact, from the inadequate number of professionals in the field. The numbers of recent USL competitions confirm the effectiveness of the actions undertaken”. (ANSA).
