The health advisor assured the arrest of the attackers within 24 hours in discussion with the doctors.

The first incident started with the death of Bangladesh University of Business Technology (BUBT) student Ahsanul Haque Diptar at Dhaka Medical College Hospital on Saturday afternoon. Alleging that he died due to negligence, the students of Diptar campus entered the operation theater in Dham and beat up the doctors. The intern doctors of Dhaka Medical went on a strike demanding the arrest of the attackers and security in this incident. On the same demand, they also announced a complete complete shutdown of the entire country without providing treatment. Hundreds of patients suffered due to doctors’ strike.

The four-point demand of intern doctors is-

1. Arrest and trial of criminals in attack on doctors in Dhaka Medical Hospital.

2. Within 24 hours, the army should be deployed in all the district upazila and divisional hospitals of the country including Dhaka Medical and full-time law and order forces should be kept in arms.

3. In future, independent health police should be appointed within 7 days to provide security to doctors and hospitals.

4. The Health Protection Act should be implemented quickly.

In the meantime, 2 platoons of BGB have been deployed in Dhaka Medical College (Dhamek) Hospital for the security of doctors.
