The attack on the Israeli kibbutz of Kfar Sa’ad by Hamas on Saturday, October 7, was reportedly carefully planned and intentionally targeted children. Documents found on the bodies of the terrorists by Israeli rescuers show detailed plans to target primary schools and a youth center in the villages. The goal was to “kill as many people as possible,” capture hostages and transfer them to the Gaza Strip as quickly as possible. These documents, described as “top secret” in Arabic, were released on Friday October 13 by NBC News.

The maps show blue circles around the Kibbutz of Kfar Sa’ad, which was hardest hit, as well as the villages of Kfar Aza, Nahal Oz and Alumim. These plans were likely intended for two highly trained Hamas units, allowing them to surround and infiltrate these villages and target places where civilians, including children, congregate.

Documents that correspond to the attacks

Among these documents, one page indicated that “combat unit 1” is responsible for containing the new Da’at school in Kfar Sa’ad. “Combat unit 2” was to “collect hostages”, “search the Bnei Akiva youth center” and “search the old Da’at school”.

Then, on another page titled “Top Secret Maneuver,” a plan is explained whereby one Hamas unit was to secure the eastern side of Kfar Sa’ad, while a second team was to control the west. The documents instructed these units to “kill as many as possible” and “capture hostages.” On this same document, other instructions provided for surrounding a refectory and holding hostages there.

According to a source within the Israeli army and a second within the government, they are in the process of analyzing a set of documents which include these plans for the attack on Kfar Sa’ad.

“I have never seen such planning”

According to Israeli officials, Hamas systematically collected intelligence on each kibbutz bordering the Gaza Strip. The terrorist organization then allegedly developed specific attack plans for each village, deliberately targeting women and children. “Any member of the intelligence services would be amazed at the level of detail,” said an Israel Defense Forces source. “The dental office, the supermarket, the refectory” were targeted, he listed. Another army official, who wished to remain anonymous, said he was stunned by the level of preparation. “I have never seen such planning” for a mass terrorist attack, he said.
